Mating kestrels

As the sun rises up over the north Cornish coast cliffs a female Kestrel call to her mate as she adopts a familiar mating stance.

The male Kestrel responds immediately and this fine pair of birds join together in well practised harmony

Its all over in a matter of seconds and the male leaves to restart his hunting activities.

Mating Kestrels at Sunrise

The best of any sunshine for today was forecast at first light so we headed off early to see if we could catch the Kestrels mating just after sunrise at around 6 AM and by 7 AM we both had 100+ images including the sequence posted below in the can with the benefit of good light levels from the rising sun and we were off to pastures new before 8 AM.        A lovely start to our day !!
