Young Buck Portraits

I was delighted with this young buck in the reed beds early Am today,  it saw me arrive at my watch point and I expected it to bolt but it held its ground and stamped its disapproval.

I kept very still and it stopped glaring at me and started to pull at its now very shaggy winter coat which together with its velveted horns made it look quite a character.

It returned its attention to feeding on young dot leaves and new shoots on low tree branches while keeping an eye on my location from time to time and it eventually faded out of view into the tall reed beds.
