Glossy Ibis feeding behaviour

A Glossy Ibis drops into its current feeding grounds on the banks of the River Cober at Helston,

The bird goes straight into its feeding mode using its well designed beak to find juicy worms in the rich pastures along the river banks

It very quickly finds its prey deep in the grass roots and spends the next couple of hours in a ' Tug of War ' with dozens of Lob worms which were no match for this hungry bird

A couple of hours and many worms later the Glossy Ibis seems to have finally eaten its fill and goes into a bit of a preening session and after a final wing stretch it heads off for a midday siesta
