Peregrines invite a Jackdaw for Breakfast

Our Pair of South coast Peregrines made an early start this morning and invited a luckless Jackdaw back to their roost for breakfast.

The female was first onto the kill tucking into all of her favourite starters but she was constantly badgered by the raucous male that wanted his share of the spoils.

The female eventually gave way and stepped back from the prey when she had taken her share.  The male grabbed the remaining carcass and flew with it to a suitable distance where he could consume it  alone.

In the last two images posted breakfast has been dealt with and both birds settled down to spend the day preening in a relaxed manner but come the late afternoon and the local bird population would need to be on high alert as hunting time comes around once again.
