It was a fine sunny day at Kennell Vale today which provided excellent ever changing rays of sunlight through the trees onto the river banks and waterfalls.
This fine looking Grey wagtail flew in to perch on the now exposed rocks of one of the vales waterfalls which have been covered with fast moving waters over the previous week or so.
The bird immediately set about feeding on water insects from under rocks and vegetation and it also took airborne flies that were highlighted like searchlights by the dappled rays of sunshine.
I had been watching this bird for nearly an hour before it showed signs of slowing down having taken its fill and I had enjoyed photographing it using a second waterfall as a back drop.
Once the bird was full it settled down to some more relaxed preening and by the time it was finished I'm sure it had not missed a feather
With its preening complete. Just a little wing stretch gave a small indication that this satisfied bird was suddenly about to depart but not without leaving me with a nice little take-off sequence
Kennell vales Dipper and a singing Wren completed my photography for today but a blog on them will now have to wait until tomorrow !!
