Kestrel Prey Hand-over

Vole Hand-over

A male Kestrel returns to land close to its nest site on the north Cornish coast and displays a fine vole to the female Kestrel who flies out to receive it in a mouth to mouth hand-over.

She immediately flies off to put some space between them just in case the male should decide to try to re-claim the Vole

Half -tailed Common Lizard.

This male who is an excellent provider of prey to the female while she is nesting and raising her brood returns again within thirty minutes with a half-tailed Common Lizard.

Common lizards are capable of ejecting their tail when caught by it but this one still lost its battle to survive.

The female has only just finished the Vole in the above section and does not as yet have any chicks to feed so she ignores the offering which the male takes off to a nearby stash to store for later.
