Osprey heads on south

Above: The two year old Scotish female Osprey ( Blue ringed and registered HL7 )  took her last fish from Devoran Creek before the sun hit the water this morning.

Below:  She lifted the fish to a favoured tree branch feeding point high in the far bank tree line where she took her time to devour it.

An hour later as the light levels improved and a northerly wind picked up she flew to a central sand bank where she seemed to be testing her wings for what our growing group of birders and photographers on Point Quay expected to be another fish hunting flight.

Well she certainly had a flight in mind but not the one we were expecting,   Taking off into the northerly wind HL7 started to spiral sharply up above the creek until she was a dot in the distance,  She then turned south and disappeared from view presumable on the next stag of her annual journey towards Africa on the favourable north wind without bidding us farewell.

Bon Voyage HL7 ,    We will look forward to seeing you again next year  !!
