Kestrel and Crow in Aerial Dispute

It was a cloudy dark afternoon at Marazion Marsh today,  The female Kestrel was still patrolling her territory hovering whenever it saw potential prey but with the wind from the North and a lack of sunshine photographic results were never going to be in the same league as yesterday.

To cap it all a pair of local crows decided that they didn't want the kestrel hunting on 'their' patch so both did their best to mount an aerial assault in which they were both quite aggressive but this female Kestrel had seen it all before and skillfully out-manoeuvred their incoming assaults with ease.

The crows moved on looking for softer targets and the Kestrel immediately returned to her hunting but worked towards the east end of the warren away from my location

Other subjects worked on after the Kestrels departure included the following subjects :

Grey heron sheltering from the North wind.

Foraging meadow Pipit.

Perhaps a rather late Northern Wheatear.

Little Egret foot fishing.

And a couple of magpie taking a bath.
