Carrion Crow claims a dead Rabbit

The above Carrion Crow has just found a dead rabbit hanging over a cliff edge which it claims and enters into via its softer underparts.

This crow has fledged three offspring during the last two weeks which it calls to come and share the spoils.

The fledglings seen below are soon on the case looking for a share of the prize and the pecking order is controlled by the adult bird which keeps itself between the carrion and the juveniles

The adult bird tries to pull the rabbit back as it is in danger of falling over the cliff.

The adult bird has taken its share and leaves the carrion to the fledglings which start squabbling with each other as they randomly pull at the rabbit which now slips away over the cliff edge ending this shoot.

As for the fledglings,  Well they just followed the rabbit on down the cliffs and hopefully continued to consume it out of my sight line !
