Kestrel fledgling Number Five

Back on the 30th June my blog highlighted our finding of a small fifth kestrel chick in a North coast nest which can be seen in front of its siblings in the above shot.

We have been concerned about its survival amid all the big boys in the nest and as to whether the adults would still go back to the nest to feed it when all the others had fledged.

Well better late than never No 5 finally fledged today having been well looked after and I was privileged to have recorded its maiden flight which was eventually extended by 500m on to Zawn A Bal to catch up with all of its siblings

Bon Voyage No 5 !!
