Cot Valley Kestrel

I dropped down to check out the Cot Valley Kestrels around noon yesterday and had good sightings of this mating pair.

The male was first to show while the female was in on the nest and it was interesting to note that when the male returned to the nest without prey that he took over the incubation duties while the female went off to hunt for herself.

The male Kestrels role is to supply prey for his mate and their brood but its the first time that I have seen one take a share in the incubation of their eggs.
