Kestrel Prey Exchange
A female Kestrel flies off of her nest looking for prey for her hungry chicks.
She sits on a favoured watch point waiting for her mate to return to their territory with prey and when she sees him coming she take-off in readiness for a prey hand-over.
The male lands on a well used hand-over station allowing plenty of room for the incoming female to land as he displays the prey in the right direction for a mouth to mouth hand-over.
With precision flying the female Kestrel lands and receives the prey all in one movement.
She then flies off immediately back into her nest to feed those four or five hungry chicks.
What a fine pair of parents these two birds are with this vole prey being the eight one supplied to the chicks by 1 pm today !
